Hacking Monckton Prior Part 4, by Jezebel Rose
Sitting in a plush, executive leather business chair, James Harker stared at the screen on his laptop. A few years ago, he purchased a castle in the Czech Republic. Castle Želeč resided on a promontory on the northern bank of the river Thaya. The river encompassed around three sides of the castle, bordering Austria to the south and the Czech Republic to the north. The castle was quite the sight to behold. Surrounded by dense forests and steep hills, it was the perfect getaway for a rich billionaire like himself.
The castle had remained derelict for over sixty years because it sat right on the edge of the Iron Curtain from the cold war. Due to the state of disrepair, James had acquired the castle for what he considered a bargain. James had money to spare. Working in the IT industry, he had made a name for himself selling wireless routing kits to major corporations. His net worth, when last calculated by Forbes, stated he had over five billion in the bank, not including assets.
Over the last few years, he hired contractors and builders to go to the castle, restoring it to its former glory. The images on his laptop showed the fully restored castle with pictures of both the exterior and interior. He would make use of the castle as his summer retreat when he didn’t have duties as the CEO of his company.
Pushing away from the desk, his chair rolled back in his office. James stood up from the chair, brushing his hands across his Herringbone Tweed suit jacket. The suit made him feel powerful and important. Already forty years old, he maintained himself with a regular morning workout. This kept his body fit and trim, unlike other CEOs that he had become acquainted with over the years. The only sign that he had started to age was the greying of his brown hair at his temples. Other than that, he felt as youthful and energetic as ever. His quick wit, sharp-dressed suits, and eccentric nature gave him a reputation for being unconventional.
One of the many corporate offices that he owned resided in New York City. James walked over to the window to gaze out across downtown Manhattan. He loved the view at the top. James could see the Freedom tower off in the distance and the Empire State Building to the right. He felt disappointed that he could not see the Statue of Liberty as it was blocked by the Goldman Sach’s headquarters building. His skyscraper never failed to make him feel like a king ruling over his domain when he stared out across the city.
James tucked his arms behind him with his feet slightly apart as he admired the view. His reverie interrupted by the buzz of his intercom.
“Mr. Harker. A Daniel Sarez is here to see you.” The voice of his female secretary echoed through the room.
