Ravaged by the Jungle Shapeshifters, by Jezebel Rose
Jen and Ryan were high school sweethearts that went to college together. They had the whole happy ever after thing going on, and everyone believed that they would end up getting married. Both made a trip to Mexico to get away from the stress from college and their families. Ryan’s uncle worked at a travel agency, and he bought them some cheap plane tickets and even hooked them up with a local guide to visit the Mayan jungle.
With the two excited as could be, they took on Ryan’s uncle’s offer without hesitation.
Packing the suitcases to the brim, which proved to be a bigger hassle than expected, but they got to the airport in one piece. Jen and Ryan were the kind of couple that didn’t care to display some public affection, which earned them a few gagging sounds like a joke more than once from their friends.
Jen and Ryan took a taxi to the hotel, and their local guide met them there. His English was flawless, and he was chatty. Jen and Ryan quickly felt at ease, which was vital for them since it was the first time they left the country. Their guide, Alfonso, took them to a small restaurant to get the full experience. They were ready to explore the ruins and the jungle now that they had a full stomach.
He drove them to a beautiful area, full of green, sunlight, and the most impressive ruins. After a while of being there, Jen noticed something.
“Can you see that?” asked Jen. “Are those—?”
“Jaguars, yes,” said Alfonso. “There aren’t supposed to be any in the area, but let’s get in the car.”
The couple and the guide got in it, and they made sure that the windows were up and that the doors were locked. The rest of the tourists got to safety as well. The majestic animals slowly walked in their direction, and Alfonso reassured them again.
“We’ll be fine as long as we’re in here. They should leave in a moment.”
